About Abundance

I embarked on my exploration of Taiwanese eateries in Singapore and came across Abundance Restaurant in Redhill, nestled within the Lengkok Bahru estate. Situated at the void deck of Blk 63A, this unassuming space is home to Abundance, distinguished by its conspicuous signboard.

This relatively young restaurant/café, barely a year old, is conveniently located just a short stroll from Redhill MRT Station. Despite its modest indoor and outdoor seating, reservations aren’t accepted. Inside, the decor is simple, lacking the adornment of Taiwanese art or posters.

Abundance’s menu takes a contemporary approach to Taiwanese cuisine, offering a fresh perspective on traditional dishes. Noteworthy options include the Mala Popcorn Chicken (S$9), Mentaiko Fish Fried Rice (S$13.90), and the CCB Crispy Chicken Bun (S$7.90). With selections spanning fried rice, noodles, sides, buns, and desserts, there’s a diverse range to choose from.

The Mala Popcorn Chicken (S$9) is ideal for sharing, presenting a flavor profile leaning more towards numbing ‘ma’ than intense spiciness. It’s an intriguing reinterpretation of Taiwanese fried chicken.

All things considered, Abundance’s dishes leave a positive impression. While it might not offer the traditional Taiwanese fare found at establishments like Eat 3 Bowls and 台ONE味 Tai One Wei, it’s certainly worth a visit if you happen to be in the vicinity.
